Decker Declared Winner in NCRA Southern Mods at Enid Speedway Park
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Enid, Oklahoma - July 25, 2010 - Despite losing the lead with just four laps to go due to a broke tie-rod, Edmond, Oklahoma driver Todd Decker found his way into victory lane after all as he took home his second O’Reilly/NCRA southern modified feature victory of the young season Sunday night during the Enid Speedway Park Summer Nationals in Enid, Oklahoma in the series inaugural visit to the Garfield County Fairgrounds. Robert Elliott of Clinton started on the pole for the twenty-five lap feature event with current series points leader Dustin Buntin alongside. Elliott would lead the first four laps, opening up a ten car length advantage before his night ended quickly as his motor expired on lap five. Decker, aboard the DIRT Performance Parts and Tires sponsored machine, took over the top position and despite several cautions for spins, maintained a consistent six to ten car length lead throughout the race over Kyle Slader of Muskogee. However, with just five laps to go, the front tie-rod broke on Deckers car allowing Slader to move around the leader on lap twenty-one. Once out front, Slader would open a six car length advantage and at the end the apparent victory. However, post race inspection found a minor rule infraction thus giving Decker the victory. Buntin would come home second and maintain his early season points lead as fifth starting Terry Osborn made his first ever series appearance a good one finishing third. Keith Estes came from his sixteenth starting position to finish fourth with fourteenth starting Ross McCartney rounding out the top five. The five, eight lap heat races for the forty-one car field were won by Decker, Elliott, Buntin, Osborn and Kevin Dickson while Kevin Snow and Craig Ridgeway took home victories in the two, ten lap “B” features. The next stop for the O’Reilly/NCRA southern modified division will be held on Saturday night, August 7, at the big half mile oval of the famed Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on the grounds Muskogee Fairgrounds. The National Championship Racing Association would like to thank the following for their contribution and involvement with the southern modified division for 2010: O’Reilly Auto Parts, Hoosier Racing Tire and Sunoco Race Fuels. The series would like to thank the following contingency partners with the southern modified division for the 2010 race season. Arizona Sports Shirts, Bassett Wheels, DIRT Performance Parts and Tires, Hooker Harness, Pro Shocks, Racing Optics, Saldana Racing Products, Taylor Cable Products, The Joie of Seating and Ultra Shield. Sebetto Nets Fremont FAST Win; Kramer Wins
Wild FAST305 Feature FREMONT, OH (7-24-10) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations With many teams rebuilding after Ohio Speedweek and the Kings Royal, and others preparing for trips West to Thunder Through the Plains and the Knoxville Nationals, only twenty 410 sprints were on hand at Fremont Speedway for Night #16 of the Kistler Racing Products FAST Series schedule. Heavy rains on Thursday made for difficult track preparation leaving the surface "challenging" for the drivers. Bryan Sebetto found out early in the night that the track could bite you as he flipped during hotlaps, but the Burmeister team was able to rebuild and make it out for qualifying before the 410 session ended. Brian Lay and Todd Heller were the lucky pill pullers after the top 2 finisers in each heat race would redraw for their A-main starting positions to make up the first three rows. Lay grabbed the initial lead with Sebetto, Todd Heller, Lee Jacobs, Chris Andrews, Phil Gressman and Dean Jacobs falling in behind. Sebetto got around Lay to take the lead on the next lap and ran up on the cushion as he caught the back of the field by lap five. With lapped traffic to navigate, Sebetto was holding off Lay and Lee Jacobs who was suddenly the fastest car on the track. With 10 laps complete, Sebetto, Lay and Jacobs were in a battle for the lead. Jacobs was on the move and was diving low into turn 1 to attempt the pass for the lead, but the track jumped up and bit him as he caught the inside berm and flipped, landing on the nose of the car and breaking the front end and ending his night. On the restart, Sebetto was leading Lay, fast-qualifier Dean Jacobs, and Australian driver Steven Lines (who started ninth) and was rocketing towards the front. Dean Jacobs dove under Lay on lap 16 to take the second spot and a lap later the red would fly for Jody Keegan who caught a rut in turn 4. On the restart, Sebetto tempted the track running as hard as he could to hold off Jacobs in second as Lay slipped up the track allowing Lines and Gressman to get by. Gressman took over the third spot on lap 17, but it didn't stick as Lines managed to drive back around him on the following lap. Sebetto pulled way out front leaving Jacobs behind battling with Lines and Gressman. Fatigue was obviously setting in for Sebetto who was having trouble navigating the challenging track. He managed to hold on and make it through the lapped traffic to net his 12th career victory in a sprint car. Dean Jacobs, Lines, Gressman and Lay rounded out the Top 5. Sebetto's last win came at Fremont when the All Stars visited in May. “I am freaking whooped. I’ll tell you what, everyone was so fast even the lapped cars were just as fast…it was hard to get through traffic. And then to drive through all the bumps and stuff. I saw the five to go and I’m falling out of the seat and I counted down and I knew the one to go was coming and I saw the camera lights were flashing so I knew someone had to be close. So I’m yelling at myself that whole last lap ‘don’t give up, don’t give up, don’t give up,” said Sebetto in the Engine Pro Victory Lane. “My hats off to Rich Farmer (promoter) and the whole track crew. I know the track is rough, but with all the rain we’ve gotten here they did absolutely the best job they possibly could. I have to thank all the Burmeisters who work on this…we’ve had a really rough year. I got upside in hot laps earlier tonight because the driver’s an idiot. I have to thank all the sponsors, Kistler Engines, Stephen Mapus Tools, Party Light Candles, JLH Construction, Burns Petroleum, Schiets Motorsports, Kistler Racing Products and R&R Auto Wrecking,” added Sebetto. In the FAST305 A-main, Paige Polyak, who looked to be one of the fastest cars of the night winning her heat race, got upside down on the initial start. Front row started DJ Foos, who has 5 wins at Attica this season, would take the lead looking for his first Fremont win. Fourth-starting Jake Trevino rocketed into second and Bill Kraylek, Josh Muntz and Dustin Dinan fell in line behind the leaders. Foos ran the same line as Sebetto did in the 410 A-main banging the cushion while trying to hold off Trevino. Several cars begand dropping out of the race with mechanical failures. By lap six, 13th place starter Bobby Clark took over the third spot with Josh Muntz and 14th place starter Zack Kramer up to fifth. They continued to run in that order until lap 13 when Nate Dussel caught the inside berm in turn 4, bringing out the caution and ending his night. Foos continued to lead Trevino on the restart over Clark and Kramer. Kramer got around Clark on lap 14 to take the third spot. On the following lap Trevinobroke going into turn 2 and backed it into the softwall ending his night. This moved Kramer into second and Clark into third. On the restart, Kramer and Clark would give Foos all he could handle as he drove into turn three hitting the cushion and breaking a left front shock. As they came out of turn 4, Foos' front end dug into the front stretch causing him to bicycle and nearly flip into the front stretch wall. Stuart Brubaker had nowhere to go and tagged the rear of Foos' car destroying his front end and ending both of their nights. As the wreck was being cleaned up, the skies opened up and the rain began to fall. Going back to the last completely scored lap, that would put Kramer in the lead with Clark, Dustin Dinan, Jimmy Colvin and Bill Kraylek rounding out the top five. As crews worked to get the cars of Foos and Brubaker on wreckers, the race was shortened due to rain at lap 16. The
Heat Is On For The Top 10 In FAST Kistler
Cup Points
MAUMEE, OH (7-27-10) by Scott Porter - FAST Public Relations The long, hot summer stretch of the Kistler Racing Products Fremont / Attica Sprint Title (FAST) Championship Series presented by SRP Pistons & Engine Pro continues on as many point battles intensify in the race for the Kistler Cup. The unfortunate loss of several notable teams from weekly competition has lead to gains for other teams competing for the Northern Ohio sprint car championship. While the faces in the top-10 have looked familiar for the past few weeks, many of the positional battles have tightened with just six more events remaining for FAST in 2010. Monclova, Ohio's Byron Reed is at the top of the standings and his dominance at Attica Raceway Park and consistency at Fremont Speedway have put a 166-point strangle-hold on his quest for the series' sophomore title. With a win on Friday night at Attica and a 6th place run at Fremont the following night, "The Monclova Missile" continues to lead all competitors with an average finish of 4th-place. Match that with series leading 5 victory lane visits and failing to finish inside the Top-5 only 3-times (all at Fremont), it’s easy to see why Reed has led the FAST Kistler Cup Point Standings since week two. While Reed’s lead may seem too enormous for Mark Keegan to overcome, the veteran of the two clay ovals in Northern Ohio knows a lot can change in racing when things have to be settled at speeds over 100-mph. Reed may have won Friday night, but the driver of the Midwest Transportation backed #X JEI was right behind him finishing in 2nd place. Keegan followed that up with a 10th place finish at Fremont after charging from a 18th starting position to keep Reed on his radar. A few more trips to victory lane like on June 11th at Attica would help Keegan close the gap on Reed, but capitalizing on any possible wrong moves by the B&S Racing crew seems like the only opportunity for Keegan to add a FAST Championship to his racing resume. Inaugural FAST Champion Craig Mintz finds himself in 3rd place and still looking for his first feature win of the season after collecting four checkered flags last year. The Bobby’s Truck and Bus Repair, Real-Geese.com, DGGI #20X Maxim has been a constant figure inside the Top-10 when the dust settles and he backed that up with a 7th place run at Attica and a 9th at Fremont. The pair of Top-10s has helped the Gibsonburg, Ohio native inch to just 45-points behind Keegan. With the help of seven Top-10 finishes (3 inside the Top-5) in the last eight FAST events, “The Sulfur City Outlaw” Kevin Lee has made a mid-season charge into the Top-5 in points for the first time. The JD Automotive, Papa Jimmie’s BBQ & Pizza, King’s Den #3J Motorsports driver has shown that a “sophomore slump” is only a myth and seemed to pass the most cars over the weekend en route to another pair of Top-10 finishes. Rounding out the Top-5 in Kistler Cup Points is Sandusky, Ohio’s Chris Andrews. While Lee may have gained a slight advantage on Andrews for fourth place there are still just 18-points that separate the two. After posting his first win of the season at Fremont Speedway, the K&N Filters, Lucas Oil, Goofy Golf backed #15C has only been seen back inside the Top-10 once coming this past Saturday night at Fremont (8th). While the struggles may seem to be continuing for Andrews, the team has turned a corner since Ohio Sprint Speedweek and looks to regain his form that helped him collect a career high four 410 sprint car wins in 2009. Knocking on the door in 6th place is “The Ohio Gas Man” Phil Gressman who has inched back to just 6 points behind Andrews after a pair of incidents took the Genzman Racing Enterprises #53 out of contention. Gressman stormed back with a pair of Top-5 finishes over the weekend and seems to be a likely candidate to join Byron Reed as a multiple FAST feature winner in 2010. Separated by mere 90-points are Dean Jacobs, Bryan Sebetto and Jody Keegan for seventh through ninth. Aboard the Northwest Towing and Recovery, NAPA Truck and Auto Center #97, Dean Jacobs has easily passed the most cars in 2010 and with one feature win to his credit the Seeling Racing team looks to be a contender for a Top-5 finish in points before it’s over. After posting his first FAST feature in grand fashion on Saturday night, Bryan Sebetto looks to finish strong in 2010 in the Stephen Mapus Tools, Burmeister Racing #16 after failing to finish out the end of 2009 due to injury. An easily forgettable weekend by Jody Keegan may have proved costly as he falls to 9th place. The tenth position is a slugfest between 410 sprint car veterans Mike Linder and Todd Heller who are currently tied. The two will be the first to tell you that their seasons have been sub-par by their own standards, but sitting just 33-points behind Jody Keegan either driver could make a late season charge in the standings. Both should be watching their backs though as current Cub Cadet FAST Rookie of the Year presented by KS Sales & Service points leader Shawn Valenti sits only 28-points away from climbing his way into the Top-10. The competition continues this weekend for the Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series with events at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, July 30th and then Saturday, July 31st at Fremont Speedway for the fire-breathing 410 Sprint Cars. There is a lot to be gained or lost over the course of these final weeks as a large sum of cash and prizes will be handed out at the 2010 Fremont/ Attica Sprint Title banquet on October 16th. All drivers finishing in the Top 10 are reminded that they are required to attend and drivers finishing 11th through 20th are encourged to attend to be eligible for door prizes and other awards throughout the evening. More details will be released when they become available.
