Donny Lia Among Double Duty
Entrants at
Pocono Raceway
(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Donny Lia, once a winner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, will drive the No. 55 Toyota for Venturini Motorsports in Saturday's Weis Markets 125, the 11th race of the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards season. Lia, along with Chad McCumbee and Chase Mattioli, will perform double duty on Saturday at Pocono Raceway, as all three are entered in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race as well as the Weis Markets 125. Lia, who made two ARCA Racing Series starts in 2006 for owner Matt Hagans, is entered in place of Steve Arpin, who for the second consecutive race will be absent as part of his driver development commitment with JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. A 31-year-old from Jericho, N.Y., Lia won in a 2008 Camping World Truck Series race at Mansfield Motorsports Park and is a veteran of 110 starts on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, having amassed 15 victories. Lia will drive the No. 21 Chevrolet in Saturday's Truck Series event, which is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., two hours before the Weis Markets 125. "The Venturinis have helped produce some really successful drivers in recent years. Joey Logano, Justin Allgaier and Brian Scott all raced here. Now Mikey Kile has won here, and Steve Arpin has two wins with these guys. This is just another great opportunity for me to get some more experience in really good equipment," Lia said. McCumbee is no stranger to double duty at Pocono Raceway. In June 2007, McCumbee scored his second career ARCA victory at the 2.5-mile triangular track just one day before making his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut. McCumbee has steadily improved race-by-race in his second stint with owner Andy Belmont and the No. 1 Ford, achieving a season-best sixth-place finish at Mansfield just 10 days ago. He will drive the No. 28 Chevrolet in the Truck Series race. Mattioli will return to the ARCA Racing Series after two races away, having last competed at Michigan International Speedway in June. A grandson of Pocono Raceway owners Dr. Joe and Rose Mattioli, the 20-year-old Fordham University student will drive the Stacy Compton-owned No. 64 Chevrolet in the Truck Series race before stepping back into the No. 17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford for the ARCA event. Though Lia, McCumbee, and Mattioli are currently the only three drivers entered in both Saturday races, the addition of the Camping World Truck Series race to the Pocono schedule is a clear benefit for the ARCA Racing Series, as Truck Series teams and owners - as well as the existing Sprint Cup teams historically on hand - will have a clear view of the rising ARCA talent on site at one of racing's most complex tracks. Practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell for the Weis Markets 125 take place Friday, July 30, with live coverage of the Weis Markets 125 airing on SPEED at 3 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, July 31. In addition to the live television coverage, ARCARacing.com will host live audio coverage and live timing and scoring presented by ARCA Nation. The ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards features 20 events at 17 tracks on its 2010 schedule. The series has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 racetracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as left- and right-turn street and road courses. Founded by John Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in two professional touring series and local weekly events.
