CRA
Super Series To Be Part Of Angola Motor Speedway July 4th
Holiday Weekend Event
Salem,
IN (December 26, 2008) The CRA Super Series will continue to be a part
of the big July 4th Holiday Weekend of racing at Angola
Motor Speedway located in Angola, Indiana in 2009. The CRA Super
Series has been a part of that big racing event at Angola Motor Speedway
for several seasons. That weekend is traditionally the biggest weekend of
racing each season at the beautiful 3/8-mile facility owned by Angola
businessman Dick Poe. Fellow local businessman Craig Everage has leased
the facility to promote races for the 2009 season, running a schedule of
special events called the Wide Open Tour.
Everidge
previously promoted events at Angola during the 2007 season creating a lot
of excitement with some great special events along with some neat
promotions each week to get the fans out to enjoy each nights racing
action. Everage has been a racer in Outlaw Late Models in the area for
several years and is the owner of Everage Auto in Angola. Dick Poe is the
owner of CRA Super Series sponsor EMF Corp and is the owner of Dick Poe
Motorsports with driver Scott Hantz who won a record third CRA Super
Series Championship during the 2008 season. Hantz also became the series
all time event winner breaking Brian Ross's record of 22 wins.
Angola
resident Scott Hantz had not won a CRA Super Series race at his home track
of Angola Motor Speedway, since July 4, 2003. That
streak ended at last seasons Hargus Mullins Memorial 125 presented by EMF
Corp and Centennial Wireless on Thursday night July 3rd in
front of a full house of fans. Several drivers challenged Hantz through
out the race, but none were able to hold on to second long as that
position changed hands several times during the 125 laps on what was a
tricky track to keep up with after the area received several inches of
rain the night prior to the event.
Hantz
has now won a record four of the 13 series events that have been held at Angola
since the 1998 season. Bobby Blount has won two series events, the first
two series events held at Angola, while the impressive list of one time
winners includes 1997 series Champion Kenny Tweedy, 1998 series Champion
Brian Rievley, 2005 series Drivers Champion Jeff Lane, also Canadian
Motorsports Hall Of Fame competitor Junior Hanley, Eddie Van Meter, Tim
Felver and JR Roahrig.
